Enjoy the peaceful serenity of this remote wilderness retreat, one hour southeast of Eureka. If you don't have a four-wheel drive vehicle, your host will deliver and return you to our base station at Abigail's Elegant Victorian Mansion, for a small additional fee of $50.
The Chalet is located behind locked gates, on a mountain top at 3,000 feet, over-looking 50 mile views of unending mountain and valley wilderness. Nestled next to a mountain stream in a grove of Redwood trees, the Chalet is a replica of an 18th century Alpine Chalet of the high Alps. Far from civilization, our home has no electricity, except what we produce ourselves from our own 12 volt D.C. Solar Panels and battery bank. The water from our pure mountain spring is the best you will ever taste.

The Chalet is surrounded by groves of Redwood trees, Fir & Pine trees, grass meadows, and groves of Mountain Oak trees. There are comfortable, easy walking/hiking trails throughout the 180 acres of the property, providing ample views of wildlife.
This is a self-serve experience where you will have to provide all of your own main culinary staples (food) and do your own cooking. However, all basic condiments and cooking / eating utensils are provided, as are all bedding and linens. Additional to your own food supply, what you need to bring are cameras (with extra batteries), lots of film, binoculars, a good book or two, good hiking boots, a love of nature, and an appreciation of absolute tranquility. I would also say "quiet" – but, here you will hear the gentle wind blowing through the trees, the gurgle of a mountain stream, the songs of many varieties of birds, and too, an occasional night-time howl of a coyote in the distance.

The Chalet has been our home for over thirty years and we now invite you to share with us this extraordinary Alpine architecture in a setting of pristine mountain wilderness. The views are some of the most outstanding vistas that you will ever see, and one of the main reason couples come here.
For one or two couples, $325 per night, per couple; two night minimum. Round-trip transportation $50 extra, unless you have your own 4-wheel drive vehicle.
